Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who supported the South Africa trip by coming to the food festival (over 200!), adopting an orphan (45 of the 49 orphans were adopted!!!), and bringing school supplies. We truly do feel loved and encouraged by our church family. It is hard to believe that in four weeks we will be in South Africa.
The Tree of Hope project is a support ministry for 49 orphan children in the Durban Deep location (term used under the Apartheid regime that identified housing areas specifically for black Africans). Durban Deep is in Johannesburg, South Africa. The South African Missions Team will be ministering to these orphans on their mission trip. It is our desire to have all 49 orphans 'adopted' by a church family or church group (Sunday School class, Life Group etc.) for the upcoming year. A one-year commitment at $15 per month will support the orphan's educational needs. With this money, the orphans will be brought after school to Cornerstone Church's educational center and then tutored and given all their educational supplies. With Christian mentoring and an educational stability, these children will have a better chance of developing and exceeding their circumstances.
Scholastic Supplies for Durban Deep Primary School
The South African Mission Team is collecting scholastic supplies for the children of Durban Deep Primary School. The supplies needed include: pens, pencils, coloring pencils, coloring pens (no crayons) and Christian themed coloring books. These supplies will be used to assist in the educational efforts at Durban Deep Primary School and the educational center at our partner church, Cornerstone Church.
God was certainly glorified today and He greatly blessed our endeavours - our God is truly an awesome God! Amy
